Danish Army Orders Protective Transport Containers
Edited by Robert H. Williams
Specially designed truck-transported shelters that can safeguard 18 troops and their equipment have been developed by EADS Defence Electronics of Friedrichshafen, Germany, and Krauss-Maffei Wegmann of Munich, Germany.
Two of the containers were ordered by the Danish army. The shelters — with a hook loading system that permits either ground or truck use — protect against explosive devices, small arms fire, shrapnel and chemical and biological attacks.
A larger TransProtec container for medical personnel and casualties currently is on the drawing board.
