Quick Release Vest Unveiled
By Robert H. Williams
A new bullet proof vest that has been introduced by First Choice Armor of Spindale, N.C., allows troops under duress to remove the protective gear in less than four seconds. They simply strip off the break-away garment.
The configurable vest is designed to protect users from most rifle and pistol fire, including 7.62 x 25 mm and .357 magnum rounds.
The vest, which is equipped with adjustable shoulders and slide closures, has zipper openings for ballistic panels. According to the company, no tools are required to reassemble the vest once quickly removed. It can be put together in less than a minute.
