German Troops Getting Mobile Radio Systems
Edited by Robert H. Williams
The German ground forces are scheduled to receive 30 mobile, digital out of area radio systems, training equipment and accessories by the end of this year. The multi-million dollar procurement is being supplied by The European Aeronautic and Defence Company, or EADS.
The project includes base stations with a range of 25 kilometers that will be contained in transportable, standard, air conditioned military containers and 10,000 terminals. Items for soldiers are hidden carrying devices, hands-free communication via headsets and push-to-talk buttons on rifles.
