Ohio Cops Receive Rolling Command Center
First responder interoperability is being achieved at the grassroots. A mobile command center packed with radios, landline telephone and cellular hookups, a global positioning system and multiple flat panel monitors has been turned over to the Lorain County, Ohio, Police Department by LDV of Burlington, Wis.
Among its other high tech gear are a closed circuit video system that features a low-light color camera that is mounted on a telescoping mast, satellite feeds and an integrated, nine work station computer network.
The expandable command center rides atop a 30,000-pound Freightliner MT-55 chassis that is powered by a Cummins turbo charged diesel engine.
