Document Detective, a new application from SRS Technologies of Newport Beach, Calif., is designed to avert the accidental release of sensitive government and corporate information. The software is able to search out more than a hundred categories of hidden information, including tracked changes, comments, embedded object linking and embedding files, and objects and fragments, according to the product’s developers.

Among its many features is a tool that “leaves only what a user wants in the document” and thus reduces the “bloat” factor in electronic files that contain mega amounts of hidden data, an official notes.
