Long-Range Infrared Binoculars Developed

Thermal binoculars that provide for the first time dual-channel, high-resolution imaging and geo-locating have been developed for military and security personnel by FLIR Systems, of Portland, Ore.

The Recon III Thermal Binocular comes in two models. A basic version is the ObservIR. The full-featured product is the LocateIR, which has a digital magnetic compass, global positioning system and optional laser range finder. Both systems could be configured with a laser pointer. They also can take future upgrades.
