Air Guard Tests Airborne Communications

Members of the 111th Space Operations Squadron of the Arizona National Guard successfully tested a balloon-based system that offered voice repeater communications for the Phoenix metropolitan area.

Called Combat SkySat and developed by Space Data Corp of Chandler, Ariz., the system kept troops on the ground in contact and also offered ground-to-air linkage.
