Hybrid Respirator Now Offered Commercially

A multi-mode respirator, called the PATRIOT hybrid life support system, that is being sold commercially by Wilcox Industries Corp. of Newington, N.H., can be operated as either a powered or non-powered air purifying respirator, an open-circuit self-contained breathing apparatus or a supplied-air respirator. Mode selection is accessed on the mask adaptor.

Based on a hybrid system that was provided to the Defense and Justice Departments, the commercial version already has been acquired by several agencies at federal, state and local levels.
