Camera Developed for Military, First Responders
edited by Robert H. Williams
A
wearable, relatively low-cost, hands-free camera—called the
Vio Tac S.C.O.U.T Cam—permits military and law enforcement
users to achieve broadcast quality images during the heat of tactical
or training missions.
The cameras, which are housed in black, non-reflective housings,
were developed by V.I.O. Inc., of Marquette, Mich. They incorporate
a Sony Ex-View CCD chip, are designed for shooting in low-light
conditions, possess 520 TV line resolution and can handle five different
lenses and neutral density sun filters, according to a company spokesman.
