QuickBird Mapping the Ecosystem
edited by Robert H. Williams
The
Nature Conservancy has turned to spacecraft to assess biological
diversity and the environmental conservation around the world. The
organization will rely on images provided by the QuickBird satellite,
made by DigitalGlobe Inc. of Longmont, Colo.
QuickBird maps guarantee “consistent imagery over large areas,
and we don’t have to mosaic the pieces together as we would
with aerial imagery,” said Frank Biasi, of the Nature Conservancy.
“This allows us to efficiently map large landscapes and ecosystems
at a level of detail that is meaningful to local communities and
conservation managers.”
