Silver Lining For Athletes Found
Edited by Robert H. Williams
Rather
than using an array of creams and powders to combat athlete’s
foot, a new product relies on silver fibers that are woven into
a visco-elastic gel insert. Produced by Riecken’s Athletic
Replacement Insoles, this novel approach produces a more permanent
cure and protects feet from shock and shear.
The silver fibers possess documented anti-microbial properties
and have previously been used in multiple applications, including
bandages, catheters and burn care treatments. And because of silver’s
thermal conductive properties, the insoles tend to eliminate hot
spots and facilitate moisture evaporation.
