Low Profile Helmet Makes Anyone A Hardhead
edited by Robert H. Williams
Law enforcement personnel may be the
recipients of an advanced ballistic protection helmet that is being
produced by the Mine Safety Appliance (MSA) Co. of Pittsburgh, Pa.
A company official explains the “helmet’s low profile
design reduces the risk of interference in target acquisition”
and guarantees a good fit with gas masks and communications gear.
A precise fit, he added, is ensured by a “suspension system
of movable comfort pads …that conform to the shape of your
head to distribute the helmet’s weight evenly.”
The advanced combat helmet was originally designed for the U.S.
Special Operations Command and currently is in widespread use in
both Iraq and Afghanistan.
