Israel’s Navy Acquires Super Fast Patrol
Boats
edited by Robert H. Williams
The Israeli Navy has received the first
of six fast patrol/interdiction craft from the AIA/Ramata division.
Called the Super Dvora Mk-III, the new, nearly 50-knot craft is
the result of a two-year joint development effort.
Israel Navy officials said the fast boats combine a broad range
of operational and performance capabilities in a single vessel.
The craft are designed to operate in both shallow and deep water
and will carry a number of advanced weapon, sensor and communication
systems.
The Super Dvora Mk-III is 86 feet long and has a beam of 18 feet.
It is powered by twin Detroit Diesel MTU 12V-4000 series engines
that drive two model 16 articulated surface drives, made by TwinDisc.
