Also Providing Ballistic Protection….
edited by Robert H. Williams
Another contender, this one, by Ballistic Research Inc. of Rome,
Ga., is a composite polymer with a high strength-to-weight ratio
that becomes stronger as rounds are fired into it. Called the Advanced
Anti-Ballistic Compound, or AABC, the substance can stop .50 caliber
machine gun rounds and shrapnel from explosives.
The polymer compound may be molded for a variety of missions. It
also can be formed into cubes to “form extremely strong structures
that may be built to any desired size,” according to a company
statement.
