Small, Speedy Vehicle Puts Out Fires

A new generation fire fighting vehicle-the ANSUL MAGNUM 440 developed by Tyco Fire & Security, of Marinette, Wis.-was unveiled at a convention of the International Association of Fire Chiefs.

Designed for use at airfields, defense installations, industrial plants and other facilities that demand rapid-fire suppression, the MAGNUM 440 accelerates quickly and requires only one operator. It can, however, accommodate up to four emergency response personnel.

The original version was produced in the late 1960s, but demands from government, industry and the fire service communities following 9/11 inspired production of a more efficient, agile vehicle, a spokesman noted.
