A Bedford, Mass., technology firm has developed a multi-axis image acquisition and motion detection-ray system that is better able to identify weapons and explosives at baggage screening stations and other check points.
Reveal Imaging Technologies Inc.’s new product is the ArrayCT that unlike current static x-ray checkpoints produces simultaneous, multiple images from different angles of moving bags.
The resulting image, says a spokesman, “enables the operator to identify threat objects by their shape, placement, and, most importantly, relative motion.”
Identification of dangerous materials is further enhanced by an array of material classification algorithms.
The upshot is that checkpoint operators are able to determine threats from liquids, explosives and laptops at the same time.
