Sec Gates Saving the Juicy Insider Gossip for the Big-Bucks Speaking Circuit

2,009

by Sandra I. Erwin

Journalists on repeated occasions have asked Defense Secretary Robert Gates to compare and contrast Bush & Obama. How do they differ in their management styles and views on national security? Everyone’s dying to know, please tell us!

But Gates has been tight-lipped on the issue.

He has promised to dish, however, after he leaves the Pentagon and joins the big-money speaking circuit.

“I will answer that question when I get paid to answer it,” he told the Economic Club of Chicago on July 16.

The scuttlebutt is that Gates will leave in 2010. Richard Danzig, former secretary of the Navy and President Obama’s national security advisor during his presidential campaign, would step in to run the Pentagon.
