Navy Relies on Solar Power at Korean Base

The Navy may be blue but it is going green in a big way.

Sailors at the Naval Facilities Engineering Command’s Far East public works department have completed five solar projects at Fleet Activities in Chinhae, South Korea.

The objective is to provide traditional services while curbing greenhouse gas emissions.

Lt. Troy Brown cites two projects: one involved repairing a roof and installing solar powered heat in the base laundry. The other saw solar powered panels being used for base security lighting.
