Military, homeland security and law enforcement personnel are testing an improved tactical communications headset and push-to-talk system that permits operators simultaneous use of three radios or two radios and a laptop or intercom.
Called the SOCOM-X, the system was introduced by McDowell Research of Newark, N.Y., in a teaming arrangement with Spear Labs LLC.
The company says the rugged, lightweight, low profile design incorporates advanced hearing protection, sound localization and amplification, push to talk features for radio lines and a wind proof boom microphone.
