World Communication Center of Chandler, Ariz. has developed a secure docking station for Iridium satellite phones that can be used at sea, in vehicles and elsewhere.
A spokesman says the station also permits “smart dialing, which mimics the ease of standard phone dialing … and allows the use of data services at speeds up to 9.6 kbs with compression.”
He adds that the docking station allows the hook-up of a secure STU-III level one encrypted phone directly to a switchboard within a matter of minutes. “Using the Iridium military phones, the docking station quickly expands the secure network for any military base of operations, no matter how remote,” says Sam Romey, WCC president.
