Family of Robotic Platforms Unveiled

Four robot platforms — ranging from 16 to 30 inches in length and 26 to 90 pounds in weight — that are designed for multiple uses by industry, the military and other users are being marketed from $499 to $899.
Built by Powerhouse Inc. of Belmont, Calif., the platforms are fully assembled and ruggedized, says a spokesman, who suggests they would prove most useful “in environments that require remote guidance or sensing such as hazardous substance handling or materials management manufacturing.”
Another market eyed by the company is robot battle competitions.
